HILFSANGEBOTE
Please REGISTER as soon as possible at the official office in your place of arrival!
It is difficult to get around in a foreign country, especially if you don‘t speak the
language. A lot of people in Germany can relate to your situation and want to help
you. They get involved in accommodating and caring for refugees. The people who
offer help do so with good intentions.
Unfortunately, there are some exceptions! These people do not mean well and
getting involved with them can be dangerous for you. We want to give you some tips
on how to be aware of these people, how to get help when you are in need.
Anyone can get in a dangerous situation in a foreign country. We recommend the
NORA app, which allows you to send an emergency call even if you don't speak
German. With the help of the app, you can be located and call for help. Many
Germans use the app. Please only use the app if you or others are in an emergency
or dangerous situation in Germany and need help quickly from the police, fire
brigade or rescue service. You can find more information about the emergency call
app here on NORA.
Accommodation offers
Before you follow someone to a private accomodation or get into a car, you need to
think about how you can communicate with the person. This is also important in
order to better assess the situation in the unfamiliar surrounding . A translation App
such as Google Translate can be useful for this, but it is even better to find someone who
can translate for you.
TIPPS
When to watch out
If the person you are talking to displays any of the following behaviours, you should
become suspicious.
Person only adresses women or girls
Be warned if someone specifically targets unaccompanied women and girls, or
selects by appearance and age when offering help.
If the person urges you to leave a public place or get into a vehicle, they may not
want to be seen with you.

FRAUDULENT OFFERS
TO HELP
You are now in Germany and safe from the war in your country.
Important: You can also register abroad, but the emergency call can only be made in
be used in Germany.
Unrealistic promises
UVAGA (Ukrainian"Attention") is a private initiative with the goal of improving
the safety of ukranian refugees in Germany.
Get help quickly in an emergency
If you suspect that someone with criminal intent is trying to contact you or other
refugees, please contact the police (110) or a support organisation
immediately.
Some offers are too good to be true. If a person makes you overly attractive promises, you should
become suspicious.
Never hand over your identity papers or mobile phone! If you are asked to do so, the
intention is probably to prevent you from seeking help from authorities or
friends.
Identification papers or mobile phone
Employers who have a legal job to offer do not recruit their staff on the street. If a
stranger offers you a job, you must become suspicious.
Honest people who want to support refugees financially will donate to one of the many aid
organisations. If a stranger offers you money, this is probably an attempt to buy your trust.
